Penguin and panda have both hit my website empire pretty hard. Luckily I only had a...

Penguin and panda have both hit my website empire pretty hard. Luckily I only had a few site’s monetised so there was no loss on earnings.

I’ve decided to re-jig this blog and make it a little bit more useful instead of just stupid posts about nothing really specific. Hence the title. I am going to focus my efforts on posting specifically about SEO, PPC and Internet Marking which has become a big hobby of mine.

What’s the appeal?

Well I’m always trying to make easy money and what I like about this industry is that once you’ve establish yourself there’s no reason to live in only one place. My dream is to be able to travel live in other countries whilst working and get a real taste for life instead of the daily grind and 2 weeks a year holiday.

I’ve been doing SEO for a number of years now and have made a bit of cash however the problem with many of the sites I’ve developed is that their offline real businesses and a really bad habit of loss of focus and carrying out a project to completion.

I won’t bore you with the details but my latest project is about to fall by the wayside. It was almost complete before the google updates took hold and kicked my rank to number 7 from position 1!

Laptop Screen Repair UK http://www.laptopscreenrepair.co.uk

Spent around £400 on the domain 3-4 months SEO’in it to the top of google, £200 on design, £200 on coding, £400 on the video. I’ve probably split even on this site. I was selling screens on it at the start of the year (around 10 a week) however too many returns because the people that were buying did not have the experience to carry out the repair. I then made the rest on actual repair with customers sending me their laptops. However this became time consuming and I want to automate things!

I put the feelers out and found a great guy called Nige that runs his own computer repair business down beside Manchester. We decided to test how this would work for a month and he raked in around £700 profit in April. Then google kicked my ass. Since then we’ve not had one lead. So I’m in the process of re-gaining the rank position then it will be a case of split testing landing pages and using pay per click to generate probably around £100 profit a day from the site.

iPhone screen reapir: iphone-screenrepair.co.uk

2011 was all about laptops, 2012 will be iphones. There is more demand for this service and the good thing is that there is less of a headache in regards to stock as all screens are the same. I’ll be taking away the lessons learnt from Laptop Screen Repair UK and applying them to iphone screen repair UK. I want to make this site more of a brand however instead of just the target keywords. If anyone has any suggestions on a good name for the site let me know

Instant Payday loans (geographical)

A big thanks to Jay over in Addison Il, unfortunately for him he gave me a great keyword in the Payday loan vertical. This is easy money and the site is pulling in top end of 3 figures a week. However competition is fierce and the loan provider is a pain in the ass to their affiliates and cancels accounts all the time. The niche is an evergreen however and as the UK slips further into debt I can only see more money to be made from this niche. I’ve never touched the niche as it’s not really interested me. However their is big money to be made on it (i’d estimate £2000 a day) if you what your doing. So I’ll be taking my first dive into it testing some geographical targets using my laptop repair sites network to game the system.

that’s it for now.

Helped sell a friends tablet PC on there last week. I used to use ebay...

Helped sell a friends tablet PC on there last week. I used to use ebay all the time but I was aware that things had changed somewhat on the bay in regards to feedback, fees and paypal refunds. Here are 3 personal reasons why I stopped using them for selling and good free alternative.

1) I know for a fact that paypal side with buyers in most resolutions. My friend sold something around 6 months back and the buyer claimed it did not arrive. Because he did not get the item signed for a full refund was given to the buyer.

2) There fees are nuts! The tablet PC I sold went for £206. Ebay take a 10% final value fee then paypal (which is part of ebay) take a fee. This equated to over £30 in fees for a £200 item. Shocking! They will also charge a listing fee. I got round this by listing as a auction starting at 99p.

3) They have removed the ability to leave negative feedback if you are selling an item. This goes against the feedback system. Since this change I no longer leave negative or positive feedback because the system is not the same as what it used to be so doe snot give a true reflection on feedback.

Because of these 3 things I no longer use ebay for selling. It’s stil a good place to buy certain items however not worth it if you are having a clear out. As an alternative I suggest you try gumtree where you can list and sell items for free locally. The added benefit here is that it’s sold locally so no postage to deal with and you usually get paid cash which is also a bonus! Ebay have really got to big for their boots and it’s time some one came along and sold their boots on a cheaper auction site.

Well I’ve just updated my blog. Hope you guys and girls like my new picture...

Well I’ve just updated my blog. Hope you guys and girls like my new picture in the header. I believe this to be a true representation of me LOL!

Anyways my cousin is really in to Rap/Garage/R&B and Hip Hop and wants to take his beats to the next level. I’ve been selling software and hardware for a number of years so he came to see me about beat making software that he could use on his laptop/computer.

The setup that he wanted was going to cost close to £2k just for the hardware alone! There had to be another option. This is where I came in. I’d been using beat making software for video productions and uploading to you tube over the course of 12 months.

Now my cousin is young only about 13 and wants to impress his mates and the girls – this could just be a face or it could lead to something so we had to find him a cheap alternative to the £2k setup he had his eyes on. That’s when we came across beat maker. Not much in the name I know but for the price of an XBOX game he was making some “wicked” beats within 10 minutes of downloading the softwares!

He’s now making his own beats and has never looked back with this beatmaking software - it’s a weird name but it’s great. I’m going to post a video in a few days with his latest beats! Stay tuned.

I’ve recently run into a problems with authorware, I believe this to be an adobe product used in shockwave programs and similar.

I was receiving a message about authorware web player not being installed. So today I’m going to lead you through how to install authorware webplayer.

1: Download Authorware

The following location has both an online version and a msi downloadable version of authorware to install.

http://www.thirdforce.com/support/downloads/

Navigate to the Autotest EDCL tab and choose the option for downloading. I have chosen the downloadable MSI as I have more than one machine that requires the update.

2: Remove any previous versions of authorware – this will stop any conflicts when installing the new version.

3: Install the MSI as an administrator or a user that has correct user rights to install software on the workstation in question.

4: The install process only take a few minutes and there are no pop-ups.

After install I can pretty much say that you have now completed the install authorware process. Congradulations!

First order errored out – i guessed because one of the pizza’s had 4 toppings which the deal doe snot include. Problem is the app just hangs and does not say why.

2nd attempt I put through the order with only 3 toppings – it worked then asked me to register. After registering it forgot my order and asked for it again!

took me bloody 30 minutes to get the thing working – now i have to try and order again. However I’m not going to attempt it. Going to the local pizza shop instead! grrrr!

Have to say sorry for not completing the skype business roll out blog – at...

Have to say sorry for not completing the skype business roll out blog – at the time there was a issue with skype business manager and the project is now over so I’ll have to up date this blog at a future time on my next Skype project.

Anyway my SEO marketing has fairly picked up a notch and I’ve been given a good bit of advice from a fellow marketer on how to make a good business on-line picking low hanging fruit

I’ve always concentrated on co.uk domains which has been my main downfall when trying to drive high volumes of traffic to websites. As that TDL is country specific. I’d have much better success with .com .

So the new year brings with it a fresh start on my SEO journey to being self sufficient. I’ll up date with more info as I make tracks in this new strategy.

The new year also sees my first .com domain blog up and running. I’ve built it for a friend and we are going to split the profits off of any traffic we generate. He just happens to be jetting of to Thailand and I’ve talked him into writing a blog to make money It will also be a good way of keeping in touch with him. I believe his first stop is phuket in Thailnd. I just hope the phuket thailand climate around this time of year is something he can cope with. Check it out.
